Salvation Army Christmas Project
Chapter members will bake cookies for the annual Salvation Army Silver Doll Tea. The purpose of the Tea is to raise money for the Salvation Army to use to purchase food, clothing, toys, and other needed items for Christmas boxes for needy families in Montgomery County. We expect to host approximately 300 people and raise $4500 during the Tea. Chapter members will also help set up, decorate, hostess, serve refreshments, and clean up after the event.
Chapter members will also work with the Salvation Army to select a day and location to serve as bell ringers at the Salvation Army red kettle locations.
Reading Buddies
The reading buddy program will place emphasis on reading to others along with a mentor/buddy aspect. A middle school in our district will use their NJHS students to mentor reading to the elementary campus next door. Students will promote reading and a love of storytelling while mentoring young students along the way. Delta Kappa Gamma sisters will serve as mentors to the program guiding the junior high students.
